Livia Schiavinato Eberlin received her B.S. in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas, and her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Purdue University. She pursued her postdoctoral research in the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University. Eberlin started her independent career as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at The University of Texas at Austin. She then moved to Baylor College of Medicine where she is currently an Associate Professor and Vice-Chair for Research in the Department of Surgery.
Eberlin has received many honors for her achievements in cancer research, including a listing in Forbes 30 under 30 listing in the Healthcare category, a MacArthur Genius Fellowship, and most recently the Norman Hackerman Award. Eberlin has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has mentored over 45 trainees. Her research program at the Texas Medical Center centers around the development and application of novel mass spectrometry technologies in health-related research, with a particular focus on disease detection and diagnosis to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
