Columbia University

Dr. Iok In Christine Chio is an Assistant Professor of Genetics & Development at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, with joint appointments at the Institute for Cancer Genetics and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her laboratory investigates how reactive oxygen species (ROS) and redox metabolism influence cancer progression, with a focus on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA). The lab uses chemical proteomic approaches to study reversible oxidative modifications of cysteine and methionine residues, which serve as key “redox switches” in vivo, to understand their roles in tumor growth, metastasis, and therapeutic response. Her research is supported by NCI R01 awards, and she has been recognized with honors including the V-Foundation Scholar Award, the Pershing Square Sohn Prize, the Paul Marks Scholar Award, and the Ruth Leff Siegel Award for Excellence in Pancreatic Cancer Research.
